So, tell me about yourself; where are you from?
I’ve always lived here in Cascais; about myself, well, I’m finishing my journalism course this year and that’s one of the reasons I came here because I want to maybe do a Masters abroad.
And when did you start studying at ELC?
This year, in September.
And why did you start studying here?
Because I had this idea that I wanted to do a Masters in Communication and Culture abroad and for that I had to improve my English and I had to have certificates to show that I know English, so that’s one of the main reasons.
And what do you like about studying here?
Well, I like the fact that the teachers are really nice and they are always ready to help you; they really are nice people and you can talk to them easily, and that’s really good; we have a good student – teacher relation and also we have small classes and you really know the people you are with. So that gives you more confidence to expose your doubts.
What areas have you made most progress in?
Maybe writing and grammar; grammar was my worst part because I stopped having English for 3 years and I got really rusty and that is the part that I really got better.
And what advice would you give to younger learners in the school?
what advice, well, studying English isn’t easy, it’s not something that you learn by night, so you have to get used to it, listening to music, watching films – that really helps a lot. For example, one tip is to put English subtitles on movies and even if you can’t catch it by hearing, you can read it, and that’s a really useful practical tip, because it’s a language, you can’t really study and memorise it.
