Hi Mariana. So, tell me about yourself; where are you from?
I’m 16 and I’m from Cascais. I go to Colégio Amor de Deus.
And when did you start studying at ELC?
In 5th grade, that’s 6 years ago.
And why did you start studying here?
Because I started having English at school and I didn’t understand because I never had contact with the language. So, my parents thought that it would help me to improve at school, and because it’s an important language.
So what is it that you like about studying here?
for me, I really like to come to ELC because I have my friends, and the lessons are a lot more fun than at school; I love it!
What areas have you made most progress in?
speaking – now I’m more confident with the language, what people say to me, and I really understand it.
And how do you think English will help you in the future?
it’s a language that everyone speaks so it will help me to understand the other people who aren’t from Portugal
And what advice would you have to younger students in the school?
not to give up, to continue learning English, because if you want to move to another country it will help a lot, and that’s it!
