So, can you tell me about yourself?
I come from Porto and I graduated in Biology and then I undertook my masters in Barcelona, where I lived for 2 years. Then I came here to work in Lisbon; I work as a marina biology researcher in Algés.

When did you start studying at ELC?
I started 2 months ago.

Ok, and what do you like about studying here?
I love the teachers, the atmosphere – it’s very relaxed.

Great to hear! What areas do you feel you have made progress in?
Most of all in the Use of English. I was studying in another school when I lived in Lisbon, and I came here – it’s different, I prefer here – we are preparing to make the First Certificate exam.

How do you think English will help you in the future?
Well, I’m a researcher – I have to write scientific papers and all the presentations.

Right. What advice would you give to younger / other students?
To improve English in general. To watch a lot of movies with English subtitles – that’s good. Maybe if they like music to download the lyrics from the internet – read and sing - and check words in a dictionary. And what I do, when I’m reading, the words I don’t know I write on my mobile. Then I check in a dictionary.

That’s a great idea! Well, thank you very much Bernardo.
