So, tell me about yourselves
Inês: I'm Inês, I have one brother - he was in ELC but now he is in university.
Miguel: My name is Miguel, I’m fifteen years old, I have one sister, I live with my parents and I have a huge passion for football.
And when did you start studying at ELC?
Inês: So seven years ago I was in 4º grade
Miguel: Me too, it´s the same this is my seventh year and I was in 4º grade when I started
And why did you start studying here?
Inês: because English it’s a really important language that I think we all need to know and I have a dream to study in England.
Miguel: My main reason is because I wanted to improve my English because I think it’s very useful for my future.
And what do you like about studying here?
Inês: The teachers. Their mother tongue is English so it´s better
Miguel: It’s a very interactive learning, we play a lot of games, we learn things that we don´t realize we are learning with those games.
What areas do you feel you have made most progress in?
Miguel: I think I made most progress in my speaking because I can speak fluently now
Inês: I agree with you… I know I’m not that good writing, but I’m speaking better.
And how will English help you in the future?
Inês: Like I said it’s a dream so I think it will help me a lot and I can go everywhere and I can speak to everyone if they know the language
Miguel: For me I think that a lot of jobs need interaction with people all over the world as English is one of the universal languages so I consider it´s very important.
What advice would you give to the younger learners here?
Miguel: My advice is that they can improve the most English as they can because it will be very useful for their future.
Inês: I agree with you and just to talk the most that they can with the teachers because it's a direct contact between the English and the Portuguese and the fact that the teachers don´t or can´t speak Portuguese it´s useful because in school the teachers can, mostly they will teach you the English stuff in Portuguese and here they have that direct contact, so it´s really useful
